The luxury of hiring a postpartum doula

The first few weeks with my newborn daughter were absolutely tranquil and I owe all that tranquility to the support system that I placed around me. I treasure those memories holding my daughter, both of us perched up and cuddling in my cozy bed. Having my nursing baby getting all my attention and spending time together and having nowhere to be and no responsibilities looming over head. There was nothing more luxurious then having home cooked meals prepared and served to me daily, having someone taking care of my laundry, someone doing my dishes without a second thought. I felt like a queen, like I did something important and I deserved to sit and take it all in with my new baby. Not only was this relaxing, but it gave me time to heal and both of us time to learn each others queues, creating a strong and early foundation for a successful and healthy mother daughter relationship.
As a new parent it's important to allow our body and mind to reboot, recharge, and relax. Doing whatever it takes to get us mentally and physically ready to parent our child for the next 18 years. To parent them with patience and understanding and to have the energy and will power to take on the daily task of dealing with a child. When people say "it takes a village" raising a family, it's the truth. Having family and friends who step up is beyond beneficial. Unfortunately, we live in a fast paced, over worked, and just too busy of a society for most of us to get the real help and support we truly could benefit from.
Taking advantage of family and friends who offer support is important in those first few hours and days, but what about after that? What about the first few months? At some point we start to feel like we're taking advantage of their kindness and now we're stressing over their help. That's why putting value on hiring someone from the outside for is key. Like a well trained postpartum doula who will give you that support and care. This is why I value what I do, I see the importance of doulas and I want to help families come together with as little stress as possible.
Franklin County, Mo has two of the top doulas and they are Stephanie and Nicole with Franklin County Birth Services, contact them for a free consultation and see how they can serve you best.
